Management Team
The efforts of NIMS are guided by a unique group of individuals with complementary backgrounds in medicine, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals.
- Marvin A. Sackner, MD, Honorary MD (University of Zurich) is the Founder, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Non-Invasive Monitoring Systems, Inc. Dr. Sackner also co-founded the predecessor to the Company in 1978 known as Respitrace Corporation and was the Chairman of the Board from 1981 until October 1989. From 1974 until October 1991, Dr. Sackner was the Director of Medical Services at Mount Sinai Medical Center of Greater Miami. Dr. Sackner was the President of the American Thoracic Society from 1979 to 1980. Dr. Sackner was the Chairman of the Pulmonary Disease Subspecialty Examining Board of the American Board of Internal Medicine from 1977 to 1980. He is currently Voluntary Professor of Medicine at Mt Sinai at the Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami. Dr Sackner holds 33 U.S. patents, has published 223 scientific papers and authored four books.
- Steven B. Mrha, is our Chief Operating Officer (COO) and is responsible for integrating the strategic plan of the organization with the operations as well as supporting its execution. Prior to joining NIMS, Steven held the position of Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Teva Animal Health (a member of the TEVA Group) and has over 20 years of experience in Sales Management, Strategic Marketing, Contract Negotiations, Business Development, P&L Responsibilities, Recruitment/Training, Executive Level Presentations and Team Leadership.
- Adam Jackson, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), served as Senior Vice President, Finance for Levitt Corporation ("Levitt"), a publicly-traded real estate development company, from 2003 to 2008, where he was responsible for Levitt's financial planning and analysis activities. From 2001 to 2003, Mr. Jackson served as Chief Financial Officer of Romika-USA, Inc., a privately held consumer goods manufacturing and distribution company. From 2000 to 2001, Mr. Jackson served as Chief Operating Officer of V-Commex.com Corp., a privately-held internet company developing an international business-to-business web portal. From 1998 to 2000, Mr. Jackson served as Director of Financial Planning and Analysis at Eclipsys Corporation, a publicly-traded healthcare information technology provider.
- Joshua Weingard, has served as our Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary since January 2010. Mr. Weingard also serves as the Chief Legal Officer of SafeStitch Medical, Inc., a publicly traded orthopedic medical device company, and as Corporate Counsel for SearchMedia Holdings Limited, a publicly-traded multiplatform media company primarily located in China. From December 2006 through August 2009, Mr. Weingard served as the Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary of NationsHealth, Inc., a then-publicly traded diabetic supply company. From February 2006 through December 2006, Mr. Weingard served as senior corporate and securities counsel at Andrx Corporation, a then-publicly traded specialty pharmaceutical company and from May 2002 through February 2006, as corporate and securities counsel at Andrx. Prior to that, Mr. Weingard was an attorney in the corporate department of the Miami office of Broad and Cassel.
- Emerance M. Gummels, is our Quality Control & Quality Assurance Director and has been with NIMS for over 15 years. Emerance carries a Master's of Science degree from the Florida International University and is instrumental in product development as well as obtaining product certification and registration in several major countries. Emerance has written several software analysis programs for NIMS' earlier product ventures, e.g., Respitrace® technology and LifeShirtâ„¢ Systems and is proficient in quality assurance; specifically in hazard and risk analysis, software validations, requirements traceability, test procedure development, software testing, ISO processes, FDA 510(k) submissions and internal auditing.
